This is a documentary website of a cookie challenge some coworkers dreamed up. With Heather as our judge and a slack channel full of commentators we set off on a journey to compare cookies and cookie like things.

Day 22

Day 22: Original Oreos vs Mint Oreos

Winner: Mint 4 Lyfe. Sorry OGs, I still love you. I still love all round 2 losers!

OG Oreo scoring:

  • smells: mmmmm chocolate waffers nommmmm
  • first bite: classic for a reason. these are an excellently balanced cookei
  • just cookie: oh hey its a chocolate cookie and it is so yummy, I will do a dance in my chair for the yummy choco cookie in my mouths
  • just filling: just some straight up vanilla in yo face. actually now that I think about it, is it vanilla? or is it just sugar? eats more think it’s just sugar. cool.
  • dipped in beverage: I have only left this here for standardization in scoring. but also. no.
  • last bite: you will always have a place in my SE Asia heart original oreos

Mint Oreo scoring:

  • smells: yassss thin mints here we come
  • first bite: nomnomnom mint and chocolate is the best combo everrrrrr I love it so
  • just cookie: weirdly after a bite of the mint it takes a really long time for my mouth to taste the chocolate all by itself. maybe the mint breaks my mouth? dont care
  • just filling: don’t careeeeee SO MINTY AND WONDERFUL. actually its a bit like eating toothpaste by itself, it does need the chocolate. also dang my house is hot and these are kinda melty.
  • dipped in beverage: please see above. milk, you are an abomination.
  • last bite: thin mints. all. year. long. why do you keep asking the dumb questions?

Day 21

Day 21: Pocky vs Dutch Butter Cookies

Winner: Dutch Butter Cookies! Do I have to give away the losers? they’re not losers! they’re just 2nd place!

Pocky scoring:

  • smell: oooo quality chocolate, not too sweet
  • first bite: dark chocolate with a slight hint of vanilla from the cookie stick I think. a nice crunch though!
  • second bite: I want to pretend im smoking a cigarette with these like those sugar candy cigarettes from when we were kids? which is a terrible thing for kids but also…. playing with your food is fun!
  • dipping in beverage: coffee stir stick! practical applications that the swede can’t complain about!
  • last bite: ultimately the dark chocolate hurt these as I’m not a huge fan of the dark chocolate. sorry pocky fans.
  • fingers: cleaner than clean

Dutch Butter Cookies scoring:

  • smell: mmmmmm butter and sugar! two terrible things for you that taste like mmmmmmm
  • first bite: slightly sweet cookie with a crunchy layer of sugar on top and butter undertone. look how fancy I sounded just then! woo! and ruined
  • second bite: nomnomnom tasty butter cookie. tasty sugar crunch. nomnomnom
  • dipping in beverage: gack no, goes squish city. no thank you.
  • last bite: nice simple sugar cookie wins out! I will eat you all day and be very happy.
  • fingers: a bit dusty but overall pretty good

Day 20: Chocolate Marshmallow Oreo vs Fudge Dipped Mint Oreos

Winner: S’moreos!

Chocolate Marshmallow scoring:

  • smells: it’s a little bit marshmallow? it smells like sweet sugar which makes no sense but maybe like cotton candy? no…. just sweet sugar. i’m sticking to my words. sweet cream sugar?
  • first bite: it’s so weird y’all that this is a smores but with oreo cookies instead of graham crackers. also I feel the cookie is softer? thicker? I dunno my mouth is broken but SO HAPPY!
  • just cookie: nope can confirm cookie is harder than normal. which is odd.
  • just filling: it’s a chocolate marshmallow! how is this possible?! those krafty elves are trickers
  • dipped in beverage: no wont. can’t make me.
  • last bite: I will live to regret this as they will most certainly kill me, but you win marshmallows!

Fudge Dipped Mint scoring:

  • smells: oooooooo yes thin mints here we come
  • first bite: YAS THIN MINTS ARE HERE and they are so tasty
  • just cookie: thin wafer of cookie and fudge coating. I think the fudge tastes a bit like mint?
  • just filling: just slightly minty which is weird, is the mint more in the cookie itself?
  • dipped in beverage: no, I refuse
  • last bite: I do love these but I also have Mint oreos in the bracket and I like the full version better. goodbye sweet minty chocolate

Day 19

Winner: Presidents Choice Chocolate Chip Cookie. I hate this room and the fact it made me choose.

Pink Frosted Sugar Cookies scoring:

  • smell: snortin sugar. good times.
  • first bite: this might be slightly stale? but also it tastes the exact same. maybe it’s like a twinkie that never dies. please see zombieland.
  • second bite: aw yeah, this is some solid sugar punch. feeling the energy coursing through my veins.
  • dipped in beverage: gack, turns into mush right away. how will you survive the zombie apocalypse if you melt?!
  • last bite: I love you crack cookies but there can only be one. cause kate is a meanie. fingers: slightly dusty but it holds up surprisingly well

Presidents Choice Chocolate Chip Cookie scoring:

  • smell: mmmmmm chocolate. smells like fancy chocolate.
  • first bite: yummmmm chocochip cookie! so good, so happy
  • second bite: choco chip is classic for a reason. these are very yummy and quality chocolate cookies.
  • dipped in beverage: mushy. please stop making me dip these delicious cookies and making them worse!
  • last bite: ultimately chocolate wins. yay chocolate!
  • fingers: get’s decently dusty as it’s a crumbly cookie.

Day 18

Day 18: Carrot Cake vs Lemon Oreos

Winner: Lemon Oreos! I am sad to see you go carrot cake. Maybe my neighbors don’t deserve you.

Carrot Cake Oreo scoring:

  • smells: oh yeah thats the stuff. carrot cake spices with a hint of frosting
  • first bite: solid cookie spice vibe with a bam mouthful of creamy frosting. portable carrot cakes please!
  • just cookie: a harder cookie which is a bit odd, but the flavor is legit. I would eat just the cookie forever.
  • just filling: ok the filling alone is intense. its actually too much sugar frosting than I would prefer. needs cookies.
  • dipped in beverage: just no. stop making me ruin perfectly good oreos with milk.
  • last bite: hard choice y’all but ultimately it has too much sugary frosting that overwhelms the excellent cookie.

Lemon Oreo scoring:

  • smells: LSD will henceforth be known as Lemons in the Sky with Diamonds! bring me that sweet sweet lemony smell
  • first bite: yasssss lemon cookies. sweet with just a hint of lemon tang. me love.
  • just cookie: fairly simple sugar cookie by itself
  • just filling: oh yes, that hits the tastebuds like a lemon freight train.
  • dipped in beverage: no milk. I refuse. YOU CANT MAKE ME
  • last bite: an excellent sweet and tart combo. I will bring a bucket of these on my road trip and I will ride that lemon sugar high for hourssssss
